Purpose:

The goal of this research is to collect whole blood from patients diagnosed with Glycogen storage disease type 1B, which will be used to support the investigation of potential therapies that address the genetic basis of this disease.

Do I Qualify?
You and your child may qualify if you:
  • Are aged 4 to 85
  • Have a child diagnosed with Glycogen Storage Disease type 1b (GSD1b)
  • Are the biological parent of a child diagnosed with Glycogen Storage Disease type 1b (GSD1b)
  • Live in the United States
You and your child may not qualify if you:
  • Are pregnant
  • Have a known history of HIV, hepatitis or other infectious diseases
  • Experienced excess blood loss including blood donation defined as 250 mL in the last month or 500 mL in the last two months

Will I be compensated for my time?
As compensation for your time, we will provide a parent/guardian with a $100 prepaid gift card for each home visit you and your child participate in ($200 for parent and child donation). You will receive the gift card after the at-home appointment is completed.

When can I withdraw from the study?
You and your child can withdraw from the study or decline participation at any time without providing a reason.

Why should I participate in an at-home research study?
The reasons are endless. By participating in an at-home research study, you and your child are part of a process that may help researchers detect diseases earlier, and develop new therapeutics, diagnostics, and treatments that may save thousands of people each year.

Is my information kept private?
Your and your child's safety and privacy are our primary concerns. All private health information (PHI) provided to Sanguine is kept confidential and coded, so no one can identify you or your child, or connect you with your medical information. No samples we share with researchers contain any information that can directly identify you or your child. We implement policies and procedures to protect your PHI in compliance with the law. If you want to learn more about your privacy rights, please see our privacy policy.

Do I need to have health insurance?
No. You do not need to have health insurance in order to qualify for the study. However, to participate in most studies, you will need to provide proof of your child's diagnosis. Even if you are not currently seeing a physician, you can still sign an authorization for Medical Record Release from a former physician that can serve as proof of diagnosis.
